A porch roof in Delight, Ark., collapsed under heavy snow

Blink security footage shows Rustyn running to safety moments before it fell

His mother says he heard cracking wood and realized the beams had shifted

A quiet winter afternoon turned into a close call when a porch roof in Arkansas collapsed under the weight of heavy snow — just seconds after a young man ran out of harm’s way.

The moment, captured on a Blink security camera and later shared by ViralHog, shows Rustyn stepping out onto the porch of his family’s home in Delight, Ark. After briefly going inside to get the dog, he reemerges — and pauses.

According to Rustyn’s mother, Brooke Oliver, he immediately noticed something wasn’t right.

“Rustyn (our son) was trying to get the dog inside the house when he came outside, shut the door and noticed the cracking of the wood on the porch above our door,” Oliver said. “He looked up and noticed the beams were not attached and decided to make a run for it. Luckily, he did just in time.”

In the footage, Rustyn can be seen glancing upward as a sharp cracking sound fills the air. Within moments, he bolts away from the porch. Seconds later, the roof caves in, crashing down where he had just been standing.

The dramatic collapse sends debris tumbling to the ground, underscoring just how narrowly he avoided injury.

Winter storms had recently blanketed parts of Arkansas in snow, and the added weight appears to have compromised the structure. While the porch sustained significant damage, Oliver confirmed that Rustyn was unharmed.
