James Lafferty announced on Friday, April 17, that he and his wife Alexandra Park welcomed their first baby
The couple tied the knot in Hawaii in 2022 after getting engaged in 2020
The pair met when Lafferty directed several episodes of The Royals, in which Park starred in a leading role
James Lafferty announced that he and his wife Alexandra Park welcomed their first baby in an Instagram post shared on Friday, April 17.
The joint post featured a black-and-white photo of the couple's hands intertwined with the baby's tiny hands. "Love has new meaning," the One Tree Hill alum, 40, wrote in the caption alongside the child's name, River Jay Lafferty.
He added the date, "12/4/2025," which appears to be a nod to when River Jay arrived.
Lafferty met Park, 36, when he directed several episodes of The Royals, in which Park starred as Princess Eleanor Henstridge. The couple was first linked in 2015. Lafferty announced in September 2020 that they were engaged. "She said yeah 🙌🏼 ☺️," he captioned the Instagram post at the time.
The couple went on to tie the knot in Hawaii in 2022. Park shared photos on Instagram from the beachside ceremony in an Instagram post, indicating that the couple was married on May 23, 2022. Park wore a strapless lace mermaid cut gown while Lafferty opted for a tan suit with a white shirt for the laid-back island wedding.
The pair then co-starred in the Hulu series Everyone is Doing Great in early 2021.

“It's a comedy about the cast of a teen drama starting their lives over in the shadow of their early success,” Lafferty told PEOPLE in 2024. “It’s rooted in friendship and love and nostalgia.”

Park played Andrea in the project, an actress who also starred alongside Seth and Jeremy (fellow One Tree Hill alum Stephen Colletti) on the fictional show Eternal.
Lafferty told PEOPLE that collaborating with his wife and close friend was the show’s “greatest strength.”

“We are so lucky to have it, and we know how lucky we are so we do everything we can to continue to foster that working relationship,” he said at the time. “I think it's always important that you have to put your friendship first no matter what. And once you have that first principle, I think things really fall into place there."
